Here are some pics of the Helio Fin. It’s more or less the same size as the Motorola RAZR2. While the Fin’s external display is a tiny retro screen OLED style it’s inner display is bigger than the RAZR2′s. The Fin’s camera is also pretty decent… I’ll post a full review later.

Finally after the long wait, AT&T is offering their employees a small discount on the Apple iPhone. Employees are now able to get a whopping 10% off their iPhone’s $499/$599 price tag. A slightly lower price tag would be nice for everyone… in case AT&T/Apple is listening as well.

Sprint is getting set to launch some hot new devices such as a new tiny Palm Treo (Treo 800) featuring Palm OS and a totally new design. Also Sprint will be getting a new HTC smartphone which will be similar to the HTC Touch and should sport Windows Mobile 6, 2 megapixel camera and HTC’s special touchscreen software. Last but not least will be RIM’s BlackBerry Pearl 2 in a CDMA format which is sure to be a hot seller. Other handsets Sprint will see include a new small Sanyo and a more updated LG enV.

I had a chance to play with the SE K850i today. Check them out here.
If you don’t know here are the K850i’s specs:
- 5mp camera w/xenon flash
- second camera for video conferencing
- 240×320, 262k colour display that’s bigger than the w810′s
It has a display that’s bigger than the w810′s but it’s only slightly bigger (pics of them side by side are in the gallery). They managed to do this by moving the nav pad from above the keypad to inside it. Notice the rectangular shape around the 2 and 5 buttons. To press the soft keys you have to press the screen. It’s an interesting idea but I found I kept hitting 5 when I wanted to go down and I pressed select when I was trying to scroll up.
I also snapped some pics from it but for some reason they were only 2 megapixels in size. Still, they’re pretty good.
The media functions have the same look as the PS3, PSP, some Sony TV’s and some of their AV receiver’s OSD.
It might be coming to Rogers at the end of the year. It will probably have Roger’s lousy music player… I just hope they don’t disable the built in SE one.

The Helio Fin is based on the Samsung Ultra but the Fin is made from magnesium. It’s really thin (11.4mm), has a 3 megapixel camera, 2.3″ 240×320 display, stereo bluetooth and support for microSD cards up to 4GB in size (you get a 2GB in the box). You also get the same messaging suite and full HTML browser as the Ocean.
Helio is also announcing a new GPS nav app from Garmin (it’s 2.99 a day) for the Fin and Ocean. Also, you can now add your own RSS feeds to HOT (finally) for the Fin, Heat and Drift.

The Sony Ericsson w580i slider walkman phone is now available for Rogers Wireless.
Notable features include Walkman related features (memory card – Memory Stick micro, walkman key, etc). It’s only 14mm thin with a 262k colour display a is available in Style white and Urban grey. It’s special feature is that if you flick it it will choose a new song randomly from your playlist. When you do that the phone will vibrate to let you know that track has changed (I guess in case you can’t hear).
It’s $149.99 on a 3 yr.
You can view a video of it here.

Looks like T-Mobile might have a new Sidekick device coming real soon. The FCC has received the Sharp Sidekick “Shuriken” aka PV250. Not a whole lot is known about the device but its believed to offer some great new features such as a 3-inch display. This should be the second Sidekick due out within the next several months. The Sidekick Slide which was designed in partnership with Motorola is another thin Sidekick device coming soon.
Keeping watching for official word from Danger soon.

Wow that didn’t take long. It seems Telus has already started pulling Amp’d Canada just after their American parent “suspends” operations. You can no longer find any Amp’d information linked off Telus Mobility’s site or on any retailer sites such as Future Shop. Oh and to top it off Amp’d Canada’s online store is offline currently. That was very fast. No official word from Amp’d as of yet.
