Will M
Please check do your resaearch before posting. Cricket has roaming agreements all over the country with both Verizon and Sprint. If a person's phone does not roam it is because they do not have money in their flex bucket.

However, you are correct as far as building a network. Too expensive! I seriously doubt that will happen with Apple.

You have no idea what it costs to build out a wireless network. The expense is critical. Thats what verizon is worth 70 Billion if not more. Also does anyone know how long it takes to build out a Nationwide wireless network. It will take forever. T-Mobile has been at it for six years, along with a few acquisitioins and they still have holes every where. I think apple will use it for something else, maybe mobile high speed net service or something along those lines. And on the reference of Cricket...good luck with that, they're the worse service around. Bad signal, bad customer service and no foot print. No one wants to give them a roaming agreement and if they do it'll be expensive like it si with Metropcs, where a call from Tahoe while you're roaming cost 90 cents a minute. Apple won't run the race, they'll probably use it for something new and innovative.

It think a new network will be a great idea! Aren't you tired of AT&T, Verizon, Sprint & T-Mobile running all the shots? I sure am! Look at Cricket Wireless, they are expanding very quickly! Offering unlimited minutes to their members, and sure Cricket doesn't have great roaming agreements but just you wait until that become a national carrier.

Any who, Apple should run the race. We need more competition like Rj stated.

talk about needing a spell and grammatical check!! I heard Google is also bidding on this technology
Google will "probably" make a bid in the FCC's upcoming auction of the 700 MHz wireless spectrum, said Google CEO Eric Schmidt. The search giant announced last month that it would bid $4.6 billion in the auction if the FCC adopted specific rules requiring open platforms. However, the FCC voted to adopt rules that represent more of a middle ground, including only two of Google's four openness requirements.
so get ready for a bidding war.

What a waste of time. A whole new network to support one device? That's crazy. If they really want they should do an MVNO first. They were smart not to do that as they avoided a lot of unnecessary expense by leveraging Cingular's retail and online sales network.
