Sony Ericsson to Cut 2,000 Jobs
April 18th, 2009

After posting a quarter 1 (Q1 2009) net loss of $387 million due to falling sales Sony Ericsson is going to cut 2,000 jobs to save money. Sony Ericsson shipped only 14.5 million phones in the first quarter of this year, a decrease of 35% from this time last year. Sony Ericsson is attributing the decline in sale to the economic decline around the world.
“In summary it has been a difficult quarter and we expect this to continue through 2009.”
Dick Komiyama, President-Sony Ericsson
“We are aligning our business to the new market reality with the aim of bringing the company back to profitability as quickly as possible.”
