Here’s my Palm Pre on Bell unboxing and first impressions. I check out the Pre’s operating system Web OS and compare it with some phones ( HTC Touch Pro 2, Samsung Omnia, BB Tour, Storm, Apple iPhone, HTC Magic and Nokia N97).
Bell is putting a 3G Palm Pre up for grabs. Entry into the nation wide contest is simple; head over to www.bell.ca/palmpre or www.bell.ca/pre and register for the email notification. The contest runs from July 7th till August 31st. The draw will be on September 7, 2009 and the prize has a value of $650 (I assume this is no contract price of the Palm Pre).
Now in case you were wondering, the phone used to promote the contest is not actually the Palm Pre but the Palm Treo Pro. Hopefully they realize their mistake before they send out the incorrect phone to the contest winner.
Both Palm and Bell are confirming that the Palm Pre is on its way to Canada’s largest 3G network. The Palm Pre the new Palm webOS, full touch screen interface, WI-FI, and a full QWERTY keyboard.
Bell Mobility launched the Palm Treo Pro late February, Alltel launched it early April, and now it’s Telus’ turn.
Like Bell’s model Telus’ will feature a touch screen and a full keyboard, Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional Edition, chat-style view for text and multimedia messages (similar to the iPhone), and a 2.0MP camera.
As you can see from the graphic, launch pricing is as follows:
3 year: $149.99 (voice and data over $20/month)
2 year: $399.99
1 year: $499.99
no contract: $549.99
