Blackberry App World Is Officially Launched

content_back_appworld

Research in Motion has finally released the long awaited Blackberry App World to go head to head with Apple’s App Store.  Details about Blackberry App World are as follows quoted from RIM’s website:

To ensure that your BlackBerry® smartphone will support BlackBerry App World™, it must have the following system requirements:

  1. BlackBerry® Device Software version 4.2 or higher
  2. BlackBerry smartphones with trackballs or SurePress™ touch screen
  3. BlackBerry App World is only available to customers in US, Canada and UK and may not be available on all networks

To Find this application to add to your blackberry device you will need to go to the mobile blackberry homepage which is found at http://mobile.blackberry.com. Click on The blackberry App world link and download it to your smartphone.  The Total File Size is 523 KB.

I personally just downloaded it and its a sick little application. After a few days of usage I’ll do a full review on it and post back my findings. One thing I have noticed is you will need a active PayPal account to pay for any applications you wish to purchase.

But the big question is can it combat the App Store on iTunes? We’ll have to wait see.

BlackBerry 99xx

rogers-blackberry-99001

Could this be the BlackBerry 99xx (Pluto), Research in Motions’s fully QWERTY keyboard with SurePress display?  CrackBerry has received a “leaked” photo of the device with a target launch date of late 2009 on Rogers Wireless.

I call fake-what do you think?

BlackBerry Pearl Flip Pulled From Shelves

Bell Mobility just launched the BlackBerry Pearl Flip last week and has already pulled the device from retail locations.  Early adopters don’t worry-you will not need to return your beloved 8230-a simply firmware update should do the trick.

Existing customers should be receiving a text message on their Pearl Flip informing them that an update is available. Retail locations will be exchanging existing stock for devices with the new firmware.  Neither Research in Motion nor Bell Mobility has made public the reason for the software upgrade.  However a software glitch may explain why Telus is holding off launching their Pearl Flip

BlackBerry Pearl Flip-Telus

After many leaked images of Telus’ BlackBerry Pearl Flip, mainly through BestBuy, the device has finally appeared on the Telus website.  Telus has both the black and pink Pearl Flip currently featured in the Telus Smart Fit Quiz, a micro site designed to help you pick the phone that suits you lifestyle.  Again no pricing or launch date but we should be seeing the Pearl Flip on store shelves soon.
